Patient Name: Sajid Masih

“People with substance use disorders need treatment not punishment and drug use
disorders should be approached as demand for quality care and compassion with those who are affected”.

Once a vibrant young man with dreams as vast as the sky, Sajid’s life had spiraled into a haze of despair by the time he reached 43. His journey began innocently enough, a curious teenager seeking solace in the bottle to numb the pains of adolescence. Little did he know, those sips of liquid courage would pave the way to a darker path.

At 18, Sajid found himself entranced by the allure of drugs, a gateway to oblivion that promised to silence the demons haunting his mind. What started as an infatuation with alcohol soon altered into a reckless dance with substances far more potent like Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroin, and Crystal Meth. Each hit, each line, offered a fleeting escape from the harsh realities of life.

But as the years slipped by like grains of sand through his trembling fingers, Sajid’s world crumbled around him. His once-loving family, pillars of strength now turned to pillars of salt, recoiled in horror as they watched him surrender to the grip of addiction. Their pleas for him to seek help fell on deaf ears, drowned out by the Persistent noise of his cravings. So they had to abandon him from the family, but now Sajid finds shelter on the crumbling rooftop of a long-abandoned home, where the elements rage and the secrets of yesterday linger.

Desperate to sustain his habit, he started to find work but because of no education and no experience he could not find one so he adapted paint as his occupation where he paints people’s houses on contracts but he is not consistent in his job as well and always thoughts of skipping the work. Despite his efforts, Sajid found himself trapped in a cruel cycle of addiction and despair. The money he earned slipped through his fingers like water, flowing effortlessly into the waiting arms of his dealers. His dreams, once bright beacons of hope, now lay shattered at his feet, lost in the midst of the chaos of his shattered life.
